People with crooked or crowded teeth may choose clear aligners when they want a less visible orthodontic appliance than traditional metal braces.

Mild discomfort is common during the first few days. The mouth usually has an adjustment period of about a week after clear aligners are introduced.

One retrospective assessment found that Eon and Invisalign achieved satisfactory changes in inter-premolar and intercanine width, while vertical movements were poorly predictable in both systems.

Each shell works while it is worn: it presses gently on the teeth, and that pressure gradually repositions them over the course of treatment.

Aligner planning can start with full-arch impressions and a working cast. Selected teeth are moved on the cast, and plastic sheets are pressure-moulded over the planned setup.
