Gum technique

Use a soft-bristled brush at the gumline with small gentle motions, then clean every tooth surface and between the teeth.

The gumline is where plaque collects as the tooth crown meets the gingiva, so brushing should angle the bristles toward that junction without scrubbing hard.

A small head and soft bristles can reach around contours, while interdental brushes or floss clean surfaces a toothbrush cannot reach.

Place the bristles partly on the gumline, use short gentle strokes, and move systematically across outer, inner, and chewing surfaces.

Brush with fluoride toothpaste and clean between teeth with floss or an interdental brush suited to the spaces.

Arrange an examination for persistent bleeding, swollen gums, recession, sensitivity, or heavy deposits that brushing cannot remove.
