How to stop a toothache instantly

There is no reliable instant cure for toothache; temporary relief comes from suitable pain control and gentle cleaning while the dental cause is treated.

Toothache can arise from decay reaching dentine or pulp, a crack, gum infection, a dental abscess, trauma, or food trapped between teeth. Pain relief can reduce symptoms but does not remove infected pulp or repair damaged structure.

Rinse gently with warm water, clean between the teeth, avoid very hot or cold foods, and use an over-the-counter pain medicine only as directed on its label and suitable for you. Do not place aspirin, alcohol, or caustic products on the gum.
