How long does led teeth whitening last

LED whitening brightens teeth temporarily; how long the shade remains depends on stains, enamel, diet, and the whitening method used.

The LED lamp is used with a whitening gel, usually containing a peroxide compound. The gel changes coloured molecules within enamel and dentine; the light does not permanently change the tooth or whiten fillings and crowns.

Have the dentist examine decay, gum inflammation, exposed root surfaces, and existing restorations before whitening. After treatment, brush with fluoride toothpaste, clean between the teeth, and limit frequent exposure to staining foods and drinks.

Book a dental assessment if the colour change is uneven, a tooth is grey or brown, or whitening causes persistent sensitivity or gum irritation. A tooth with decay or a leaking restoration needs treatment before cosmetic whitening.
