What can you do instead of relying on turmeric gel?
Brush gently with a soft toothbrush, clean between the teeth with floss or an interdental brush, and rinse with lukewarm water. Do not press gel into a draining swelling or use it to delay treatment, because an abscess may require drainage, root canal treatment, or removal of the tooth.
When should persistent swelling be examined by a dentist?
Arrange a dental examination when swelling persists, recurs, bleeds easily, or occurs beside a painful tooth. Seek urgent care for facial swelling, fever, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, or rapidly increasing pain.
Could the swelling be gum disease or an infection?
