Sensodyne whitening before and after

Whitening toothpaste can remove some surface stain, but it cannot change the colour of fillings or deeply coloured tooth structure.

A whitening toothpaste uses cleaning abrasives and may contain ingredients intended to help with extrinsic stain. It does not bleach the inner dentin in the way professionally applied peroxide whitening can.

Brush gently with a soft brush and use the toothpaste as directed, while cleaning between teeth and limiting frequent staining drinks. A dentist can distinguish surface stain from decay, enamel wear, fluorosis, or restorations before discussing stronger whitening.

Seek an examination for patchy colour, sensitivity, pain, a rough surface, or a single dark tooth. Whitening should be assessed before treatment when the colour change may come from decay, trauma, or a restoration.
