Root canal treatment alternative medicine

Alternative medicine cannot remove infected or inflamed pulp; treatment usually means preserving the tooth with endodontic care or removing it.

The pulp is the living tissue containing nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth. When irreversible inflammation or infection is present, herbs, oils, supplements, or energy-based remedies do not clean and seal the root-canal system.

A dentist uses tests and dental imaging to assess the pulp and the tissues around the root. Depending on the findings, options may include root canal treatment followed by a restoration, or extraction with discussion of tooth replacement; antibiotics are not a substitute for removing the source.

Arrange dental assessment promptly if pain lingers after hot or cold, occurs spontaneously, or comes with swelling, tenderness to biting, fever, or a draining gum bump. Facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or marked illness requires emergency care.

Ask whether the pulp can recover, what the imaging shows around the root, and whether root canal treatment or extraction is indicated. Ask which complementary products could interact with your medicines and what definitive treatment is planned.
