Myrrh is an aromatic resin used in some oral products, but it does not replace plaque control or diagnosis of bleeding gums.

Myrrh comes from trees of the Commiphora genus and contains aromatic resin compounds. A mouth rinse, tincture, or oil may expose the gums to a different concentration and formulation, so the product label matters.

Clean along the gum margin with a soft brush and clean between the teeth daily. Do not place concentrated resin, essential oil, or an unlabelled preparation directly on irritated tissue, and stop a product that burns or causes a rash.

Arrange an examination for bleeding, swelling, persistent bad breath, gum recession, pus, or a loose tooth. Facial swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing needs urgent assessment.
