Lingual self ligating brackets

Lingual self-ligating brackets are fixed metal brackets bonded to the tongue side of teeth, with built-in clips that hold the archwire.

The brackets sit behind the teeth. Their clips retain an archwire, which applies controlled force through the periodontal ligament as teeth are guided into a planned bite.

Keep the area clean, avoid force or improvised household adhesives, and follow the product or orthodontic instructions. A dentist can examine the anatomy, take radiographs or scans when indicated, and select treatment based on the cause.

Arrange an examination if symptoms persist, worsen, or interfere with eating, speech, cleaning, or sleep. Facial swelling, fever, uncontrolled bleeding, or trouble breathing or swallowing needs urgent care.
