An end-tuft toothbrush has a small bristle bundle for cleaning back molars, gum contours, braces, implants, and other difficult-to-reach areas.

The small rounded tuft concentrates bristles on a limited surface instead of covering several teeth at once. It is an accessory brush, not a replacement for brushing all tooth surfaces and cleaning between teeth. Use a small amount of fluoride toothpaste, place the tuft at the gumline or around the target appliance, and make short gentle strokes. Clean the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces without scrubbing hard. For braces, angle the tuft around brackets and under the wire; for implants or a partially erupted wisdom tooth, follow the clinician’s demonstrated angle. Rinse it and let it air-dry.

Ask for dental guidance if brushing causes persistent bleeding, pain, recession, or a sore area. A dentist or hygienist should check an implant, orthodontic appliance, or partially erupted tooth that remains difficult to clean. Replace the brush when bristles spread or become worn, and do not share it.

Can an end-tuft brush replace floss? No. Its tuft cleans selected tooth and appliance surfaces, while floss or an interdental brush cleans the contact area or space between teeth.
