How long do denture soft liners last

A denture soft liner can wear, harden, stain, or lose its fit, so its service life depends on the material, hygiene, use, and mouth changes.

The liner changes with chewing forces, cleaning products, moisture, temperature, fungal growth, and the shape of the underlying gum ridge. It may become rough, detached, compressed, stained, or malodorous before the denture itself fails.

Clean the denture and liner with a denture brush and the product recommended for that material, rinse after meals, and remove the denture for the rest period advised by the dentist. Do not boil it, scrape the liner, or use household bleach unless specifically instructed.

Arrange review if the liner lifts, develops a tear, causes a sore spot, smells, or no longer holds the denture steady. Persistent ulcers, bleeding, or a lump needs prompt examination.
