A complete denture replaces the teeth in one arch, while a partial denture replaces selected teeth and uses a framework, clasps, or other components for support. The base is commonly acrylic resin, and artificial teeth may be acrylic or another denture material.
How are dentures made and adjusted to fit?
A dentist takes impressions or digital records, checks the bite and support, and adjusts the appliance as the tissues adapt. Remove dentures as instructed, clean them over a basin of water, and keep them in the recommended soaking solution when they are out of the mouth.
When does a denture problem need an adjustment?
Book an adjustment if the denture rubs, causes a sore, clicks during speech, slips while eating, or makes chewing difficult. A cracked, warped, or suddenly loose denture also needs assessment.
