Are dental implants guaranteed

Dental implants cannot be promised for every person; the result depends on bone, gum health, planning, healing, maintenance, and the restoration.

An implant is a titanium or ceramic fixture placed in jawbone, joined to an abutment and crown. Bone integration, called osseointegration, must occur before the final tooth can carry normal chewing forces.

Have the dentist assess the missing tooth site, three-dimensional bone volume, gum condition, bite, smoking or nicotine exposure, and medical history. Planning may include a scan, gum treatment, bone grafting, or a different replacement option.

Seek review for pain, swelling, bleeding, mobility, a loose crown, or difficulty cleaning around an implant. Early review can distinguish inflammation around the gum from bone loss around the fixture.
