Side lip blister

A blister at the side of the lip may be a cold sore, friction blister, bite injury, or another lesion that needs examination if it persists.

A lip blister is a fluid-filled or raised area on the skin or moist lining of the lip.

Possible causes include herpes simplex cold sores, accidental biting, friction, burns, contact irritation, and blocked minor salivary glands.

Avoid picking it, protect it from friction, keep the area clean, and avoid sharing lip products or close contact if it resembles a cold sore.

See a dentist or clinician if it is very painful, recurrent, spreading, associated with fever, or does not heal.
