Woven dental floss is a textured, multifilament thread that can clean between teeth when it fits comfortably and is used with gentle gum-hugging strokes.

Floss works by sliding between teeth and curving around each tooth to disrupt plaque at the contact and just below the gum edge. Textured floss may suit some wider spaces, while tape, holders, or interdental brushes suit other shapes.

Use a clean section for each space, guide the thread through the contact without snapping, curve it into a C shape, and move it against both tooth surfaces. Follow the product directions if using a mouthwash, but do not substitute rinsing for mechanical cleaning.
