Herbal remedies for abscess tooth

Herbs may soothe mouth tissues briefly, but they do not drain a dental abscess or remove the infected pulp and cannot replace dental treatment.

An abscess is a collection of inflammatory fluid and bacteria around a tooth root or in gum tissue. The infection may spread through tissue planes even when pain temporarily decreases.

Keep the area clean and use gentle rinsing, but do not put concentrated oils, powders, alcohol, or plant material into the abscess. Do not press, cut, or try to drain it yourself.

Arrange urgent dental care for a suspected abscess, particularly with facial swelling, fever, worsening pain, pus, or difficulty opening the mouth. Breathing or swallowing difficulty requires emergency medical care.

Where is the infection located, and can it be controlled by drainage, root canal treatment, periodontal treatment, or extraction? Ask whether medication is indicated alongside treatment.
