How is a fixed bridge joined to supporting teeth?
A fixed bridge joins one or more artificial teeth to crowns on the neighboring abutment teeth. The underside of the artificial tooth does not touch the gum like natural enamel, so plaque and food can collect in the tunnel beneath it.
How should you floss beneath and around the bridge?
Pass the threader from the cheek side to the tongue side, then use the thickened section to clean beneath the bridge and both supporting teeth. Move gently without snapping floss against the gingiva, and use an interdental brush only if it fits without force.
