Invisalign type braces

Invisalign is a system of clear, removable thermoplastic aligners used to move teeth through a dentist- or orthodontist-planned sequence.

Clear aligners are custom-made trays that apply controlled pressure to selected teeth. They are changed through a planned series, while attachments, elastics, or other appliances may be added when movements need extra control.

An orthodontic assessment uses photographs, scans or impressions, and X-rays when indicated to plan tooth movement and check roots, bone, and bite. Aligners need consistent wear and should be removed for eating, then cleaned before reuse.

Seek assessment before choosing aligners if you have untreated decay, gum disease, jaw pain, loose teeth, or a complex bite. Contact the treating clinician if a tray cuts the gum, no longer fits, or causes persistent pain.

Ask which movements are predictable with aligners, whether attachments or elastics are needed, and what retention is planned afterward.
