Gum brush for braces

A soft toothbrush and correctly sized interdental brush clean the gumline and bracket spaces with braces.

Plaque collects where brackets meet enamel and beneath the archwire, while an interdental brush reaches spaces a flat brush may miss.

Angle the brush toward the gumline and bracket edges, then pass a small interdental brush under the wire without forcing it.

Seek care for persistent bleeding, swollen gums, severe pain, a loose bracket, or a wire injuring the cheek or gum.

Ask which brush diameter fits under the wire, whether fluoride exposure is adequate, and whether any area shows gingivitis.
