Class II bands usually refers to orthodontic elastics that run from an upper canine or premolar area to a lower molar area to correct an overjet or Class II bite relationship. They apply a directed force to teeth and supporting bone, but they do not replace diagnosis of the jaw and tooth positions.
What does a Class II dental relationship mean?
A Class II relationship means the lower dental arch sits behind the upper arch in the front-to-back direction. It may reflect tooth position, jaw growth, or both, so the same elastic pattern is not appropriate for every patient.
