Dpi algitex alginate powder

DPI Algitex is an alginate impression material that is mixed with water to make a quick dental mould of the teeth and surrounding tissues.

A dentist or dental assistant may use an alginate impression for study casts, orthodontic records, a mouthguard, a whitening tray, or a temporary prosthetic plan. It records broad anatomy but is less detailed and dimensionally stable than some materials used for definitive crowns.

The clinician measures powder and water, mixes quickly, loads the tray, seats it over the teeth, waits for the material to set, and removes it with a controlled movement. The impression is rinsed, disinfected according to clinic protocol, and poured or scanned as required.

Tell the clinician about a strong gag reflex, breathing difficulty through the nose, latex sensitivity, or a previous reaction to dental materials. Seek care if material is swallowed, breathing is obstructed, or persistent irritation follows the procedure.

Ask what the impression will be used for, whether a digital scan is suitable, and how soon it must be poured. Ask how the tray and material will be selected for comfort.
