ORMOCER has been studied in restorative dentistry and in posterior restorations. Clinical comparisons include ORMOCER-based and conventional methacrylate-based resin composites in those restorations.

Why is interface stress considered?

Contraction stress occurs at the interface between the tooth and its restoration. The material category was introduced with the aim of reducing that stress, alongside reducing clinical time.

Clinical studies of ORMOCER posterior restorations assess marginal adaptation, retention and fracture at follow-up intervals from 6 to 36 months. One clinical trial also recorded postoperative hypersensitivity and restoration losses after 12 months.
